Boys 2018 - Week #5 Coaching Message

Here are week #5 coaching reminders and points of emphasis:

  • Please start the week off right with a big picture message. Recap the season's progress. Share insight into  goals for the final week and tournament, if applicable.
  • 2023/24/25 - Patriot Games Schedule LIVE. This includes venue and field locations. See here: http://www.patriotgameslax.com/schedule/
  • All coaches Club gear must be returned promptly. Bags, balls, cones, creases, goalie gear, etc.. Return to Mike DePetris, 123 Parkview Drive, Springfield. Phone - 484-885-5903. Accepting drop offs anytime on left side of home or front porch.
  • Mark your calendars to join our families @ Club Wrapup Party, Sunday, Aug 5th from 2-5 p.m., Crowell Park. Nothing for coaches to do, just come relax and enjoy.
  • FYI - final coaches checks will be processed on or about Monday, July 16th, possibly sooner for teams that have wrapped up their season earlier.

NOTE - No income taxes were withheld from your pay and so it remains each coaches responsibility to reserve funds to satisfy the personal Federal and State income tax liabilities. Salaried coaches who are paid > $600 in calendar 2018 will be issued a Form 1099-Misc in the Winter of 2018  to enable you to declare your income when filing your personal income tax returns.

Boys Coaches Payroll - Handout Tonight

Boys Summer Coaches,

First of 2 Coaching Payrolls was processed last night. Coach Cugini has your check and will be distributing them at Halderman tonight.

Please cash your checks promptly. Questions on your pay should be directed to Tom Lemieux.

SCLC

-----------

FYI - the checks are based on your attendance at practice and tournaments and predetermined rates of pay through last weekend. No income taxes were withheld and so you are responsible for reporting your income to tax authorities (some will receive an IRS Tax Form 1099-Misc from SCLC in the Winter to help you do this).

Boys 2018 - Week #4 Coaching Message

SCLC Boys Coaches,

Nice job for first 3 weeks guys. Half way done our season. This message is intended to help you advance your planning for week of June 25th.

Here are week #4 coaching reminders and points of emphasis:

  • Coaches messaging has been strong, thank you, our families appreciate it! Please continue to send team-specific messages from the website/app. Recap the past week; the good and bad. Share insight into your goals. Set tone for any issues you see developing, etc.

  • A core part of our offering is holding 12 quality practice sessions. Many have expressed how practices are just as important, if not more so, than tournament play. Its been great to see so many well-planned, active practices, lets keep it up!!!

  • Right now, all teams are on track to get 12 sessions in with the exception of U9Dev, which has one practice to makeup. It's up to each Head Coach to add/adjust as needed. We can help you with your team schedule, just message us at  .

  • Our first coaches payroll will be processed early this coming week. Stay tuned. FYI - final coaches checks will be processed on or about Monday, July 17th.

  • Reminder - US Lacrosse membership is expired (or will soon expire) for the following coaches. Please renew ASAP! Renewals are reimbursed by Club with proof of payment and are required to attend any SCLC events.
name uslId issue
Lou Cacchio 99271 USL ID expires on 6/30/2018
Sean Duffy   No records found.
Michael Gerzabek 2676738 USL ID expires on 6/30/2018

Boys 2018 - Week #3 Coaching Message

SCLC Boys Coaches,

Thank you for another great week and quality showing @ the Meltdown. Be sure to return to your teams this week with positive message to build on.

Here are week #3 coaching reminders and points of emphasis:

  • Continue your team-specific email messages. Recap the past week; acknowledge the good & bad. Share goals for the week ahead. Set tone for any issues you see developing, etc. Foreshadow any special events, if applicable.
  • Be mindful of any conflicts you or your staff may have and take action to reschedule or add practices as needed. Look ahead. The staff at SCLC can help you adjust your teams schedule, just message us at  .
  • Anyone with Parent or roster issues should consult with Tom Lemieux or any other Director. We want you focused on players, not dealing with unnecessary distractions. Please let us know so we can support you.
  • NOTE - we have 3x Bounce Backs at Halderman for everyone's use. Feel free to weave them into your practice plan, if desired.
  • Reminder - we are centrally managing Summer Slam player registration for all teams this week. Head Coaches may be sent information from SS website. Bottom line, focus on your teams prep and let us handle the back end.
  • NOTE - Summer Slam details will be posted on your team page as published.

  •

FYI - First coaches payroll will be attendance-based and processed on or about the week of June 25th

Boys 2018 - Week #2 Coaching Message

SCLC Boys Coaches,

Thank you for starting our season off strong last week!

Head Coaches are doing a great job with team-specific email messages from the website/app; thank you. You cannot underestimate the value our parents find from hearing from you. Don't forget to message your team this week to keep the dialog going.

Regarding attendance; please remember to communicate with your Head Coach and Coach Lemieux well in advance of a need to miss a practice, scrimmage or tournament. Head Coaches are formally tracking staff attendance and updating Tom as requested. Look at your team's schedule for next two weeks, think ahead to potential conflicts and communicate any conflicts or changes ASAP.

Regarding goalies, please make sure your team has at least one and confirm that he can attend the Meltdown, both days. Identify potential backups. If you need assistance with goalie selection, goalie gear, etc. please message

Reminder - we are centrally managing Meltdown player registration for all tournament teams this week. Head Coaches may be automatically sent information from Meltdown website. Bottom line, focus on your teams prep and let us handle the back end!

Re administrative matters.......our first coaches payroll will be processed on or about the week of June 25th.

Thats all for now. Remember, all coaches only messaging is archived online in our Coaches Corner. See here https://leagueathletics.com/HeyCoach.asp?n=134264&org=springfieldlacrosseclub.com ("sclccoach" is the password).

Boys 2018 - Summer Coaching Kickoff Message
by SCLC posted 5/15/2018

REMINDER - COACHES KICKOFF MEETING IS TOMORROW MONDAY JUNE 4TH @ 6:00 P.M.  ALL COACHES SHOULD ATTEND AND PICKUP THEIR GEAR.  THANKS.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SCLC 2018 Boys Coaching Staff,

Thanks to each of you for your commitment to the development of our young men this Summer.

This message is going to be long but is filled with basic information you will need to execute on our Club’s goals in 2018. Please save this message and refer to it often.

1 = Coaches Kickoff Meeting – Monday, June 4th @ 6:00 p.m. Halderman

Club Directors Lemieux & Cugini have requested a kickoff meeting for ALL head and assistant coaches. If you are getting this message your attendance is required. Team practice gear (bags, balls, cones, creases, etc.) will also be handed out.

If you cannot attend, please RSVP to Tom Lemieux and or John Cugini to cover off on key messages being delivered in this meeting.

2 = Club Mission Statement & Summer Travel Program Guidelines

An understanding of our Club Mission Statement and a description of our Summer Program is critical. Please take a moment to read it online @

https://leagueathletics.com/Page.asp?n=90715&org=springfieldlacrosseclub.com

https://leagueathletics.com/Page.asp?n=124744&org=springfieldlacrosseclub.com

3 = General Events Calendar

Events of a general nature, applicable to all Club members, are shown @

https://leagueathletics.com/CalendarOfEvents.asp?n=125703&org=springfieldlacrosseclub.com

Event highlights, which you may want to include on your personal calendar, include:

o    >21 Parent/Board/Coaches Social, Dukes Tavern - Saturday, June 9, 2018 @ 8 p.m.

o    Season Wrap Up Party – Sunday, August 5, 2018 @ ~2 p.m.

It’s important to note that our Boys Program goes dark between Friday, June 29th and Wednesday, July 4th, NO practices or events may be held during this time.

4 = Team Rosters and Team Schedules

All 5 teams are set at this point with full rosters and schedule detailed online, including:

i) U9 Developmental (non tournament participating), ii> Grades 3/2/1 (2027/2028), iii> Grade 4 (2026), iv) Grade 6/5 (2024/2025) and v> Grade 7/6 (2023/2024).

Developmental type (non tournament participating) players are assigned to each team, are denoted as "developmental" status in your roster online, regularly practice with your team but do NOT attend tournaments.

NOTE – We are working to organize Scrimmage(s) for U9 Developmental only, in lieu of a regularly scheduled practice(s), with West Chester Elevated Lacrosse Club. As all scrimmages require travel, pay close attention to your team’s schedule.

5 = Tournaments

All teams, except U9D, are registered and paid to attend each of 3 tournaments; i) The Meltdown, ii) Boys Summer Slam & iii) The Patriot Games Summer Showcase...........with exception of Grade 3/2/1 (2027/2028) that will attend the NXT Cup in lieu of Patriot Games.

Each tournament spans 2x days; Saturday & Sunday. Exact dates are listed in the Team & General Event Calendars online.

General Tournament NOTE - We will centrally administer individual player registration with each tournament and so you, as a coach, are NOT responsible for doing so.

6 = Emergency Contacts & Team Messaging

Each Head Coach and his staff will receive a separate email providing complete contact information for all assigned players (regular and developmental status). Head Coaches should keep a copy of contact information on hand in the event of an emergency.

Below are links for simple instructions on how each Head Coach (or his designee) can use the Club website (from PC, tablet or phone) to communicate directly with your team through the season. We expect frequent (at least weekly) email communication from each Head Coach to players and parents.

7 = Coaches Feedback on Players

We believe it will be important to share constructive feedback with players and parents alike. We want to convey a sense of continuous improvement and set expectations for development areas so players come back to us (in the Fall, next Summer, in the High School, etc.) better than they leave us in July 2018. Please feel free to share feedback informally.

If you can find time to give more structured feedback, the SCLC Board has creating a Player Evaluation Form that each player (regular and developmental) could receive directly from the Head Coach. This form/template is available in Excel and PDF format online @

https://leagueathletics.com/Documents.asp?n=125708&org=springfieldlacrosseclub.com

8 = Coaches Payroll & Tax Withholding

We expect to process coach’s payroll by check on 2 or 3 separate dates; each TBD. Checks will be handed out at practice or delivered to Director Lemieux for pickup. Questions about your individual salary situation should be directed to Coach Lemieux.

NO income taxes will be withheld from your pay and so it remains each coaches responsibility to reserve funds to satisfy personal Federal and State income tax liabilities. Salaried coaches who are paid $600 or more in calendar 2018 will be issued a Form 1099-Misc in the Winter of 2018 to enable you to declare your income when filing your personal income tax returns.

9 = US Lacrosse Membership

All SCLC members, including all coaches, must be valid US Lacrosse members throughout the duration of our program to participate in practices or games. We urge you to check your status and, if inactive, to renew your membership ASAP.

To check your US Lacrosse membership status and/or renew your US Lacrosse membership see https://usl.ebiz.uapps.net/personifyebusiness/MemberSearch.aspx.

Annual US Lacrosse membership fees up to $50 are reimbursable to you through your first paycheck IF you submit a request with proof of paid membership to   .

US Lacrosse membership protects our Club and so we greatly appreciate your attention to this matter.

10 = Coaches Corner - YOUR Online Resource

SCLC maintains a private web page called "Coaches Corner" where you can refer to all historical coaches-only messaging, instead of digging through old emails. It can be found under the "Home" tab on the horizontal menu bar.  Here is the quick: link: https://leagueathletics.com/HeyCoach.asp?n=134264&org=springfieldlacrosseclub.com The Passcode to access Coaches Corner content is "SCLCCoach."

11 = Code of Conduct & Ethics

SCLC expects all its members, directors and coaches to adhere to the US Lacrosse Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics. Club messaging will be designed to reinforce and educate these expectations. These guidelines can be found at:

http://www.uslacrosse.org/about-us-lacrosse/policies

Anyone with questions or concerns or those who encounter challenging situations with players, officials or parents are encouraged to contact Club Director Lemieux, Assistant Club Director Cugini or any SCLC Director.

Anonymous feedback can be submitted at any time at

https://leagueathletics.com/Support/BF6.asp?n=125706&org=springfieldlacrosseclub.com

We understand this is a lot to absorb at once and so we encourage you to save this message and refer to it often. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact     at any time.

Looking forward to an exciting season ahead!

Tom Lemieux; John Cugini & SCLC Directors
